Since Marc got laid off from his job in December, he has been staying at home with the girls while I go to work. He is lucky that his mom is able to come up and help most days, so he is rarely alone with them, but if it happens he can handle it. We are also fortunate that my mom comes up on the days I have off so Marc can have some alone (sort of) time. (Alone time around here means in another room with headphones in. That way if you are desperately needed you are available.) He is doing such a great job. I know that he would rather be out in the world, but he claims that he is enjoying (or trying to) his time with Alice and Claire. I think it helps that we know many men that are, or have been at some point, stay-at-home dads. We feel very fortunate that I have a good job and one of us can stay home. I would hate it if we were both missing out on this time with the girls. They are starting to be so fun and interactive. Claire smiles, blows bubbles and loves attention. Alice loves to talk and has just started to realize that her hand is attached to her body and she can control it. The other day she was making friends with her fist and had quite the conversation with it.

Alice talking
While I was changing Alice into her PJs last night and she was having a little chat with the mobile bears above the changing tables. It was so cute.

New Blog
My mom and I were talking the other day about my cousin's blog Simple meals for busy families . This is a great blog, but most of the recipes are not so healthy. I am constantly on the look out for easy and healthy meals, so I started a new blog http://quickandhealthymeals.blogspot.com . If anyone would like to contribute to it, let me know. I hope to share lots of new and fun recipes.

I love our generator!
We got a notice a few days ago that our power would be interrupted from 9:00am to 5:00pm today and on Wednesday. As expected the power went out at 9:00. Around 6:00pm the power tried to sputter back on, but never made it. They are replacing all of the power poles and apparently are having trouble. It is now 11:00pm and no power. My grandparents had a high capacity natural gas generator installed a few years ago and we LOVE it. While everyone else is cold and in the dark with the food in their fridges going bad, we are warm and comfortable watching TV. The power service is so sketchy that a generator like ours in necessary. Yeah for modern technology!

Back to Work
This week I went back to work. I was hoping that I would be able to find an ultrasound job while on maternity leave, but the economy turned and there are very few jobs out there. So I am back at the sleep lab. i really can't complain though. The sleep lab is very flexible with me and the pay is decent. I am only part time (for now) and am still on the job hunt. My new schedule is 4 hours on Wed, 8 hours on Thurs and 12 hours on Fri night. So far things are fine, in fact most of the time I fell like I never left. I am going to be taking call at the ultrasound department at Utah Valley just to keep my skills up until something else comes along.
Apparently I am a horrible mother. I was at work on Thursday and I women from the office was chatting with me. She asked me if I missed the girls. I told her that yes, I did miss the girls, but it was also nice to get out of the house for a few hours. She gave me a weird look and said "Well, at least your honest." Is it so terrible to want some adult time? It's not like I'm leaving my kids with strangers with weird diseases. I don't feel guilty about working and I don't feel guilty about wanting to get out of the house. Twins are exhausting.
