18 Months

The girls turned 18 months old today and they enjoyed their first legal day in nursery. We had a small dinner party to celebrate this momentous day. So far we have celebrated a birthday every 6 months, but this one will probably be the last. Although, I have 2 kids, shouldn't we celebrate 2 birthdays? Anyway, Sandy got them some kid-sized brooms because they love to "schweep schweep."

Melanie got them some bath toys that they were able to enjoy right after eating their cake.

The girls especially enjoyed the cake, maybe a little too much.

A little break

Yesterday I dropped the girls off at my mom's house to spend the night. We are going to Mexico in May and we decided to have a few trial runs before leaving for the week. I felt a little bad about the state I left the girls in. Once I got down to Orem we took Claire to have her picture taken and then went shopping. As soon as we got in the car to head over to the photo place both girls fell asleep. My mom stayed in the car with Alice and I woke Claire up to do her pictures. She was actually quite good, which was surprising due to her 5 minute nap. So Alice got about 45 minutes of a nap. (The normal nap is 2 hours.) When we went shopping Claire ended up falling asleep in the stroller. When we got back to my mom's Claire went right down for a late nap. When I left, I wasn't sure how it was going to go, but my mom said it was fine. They had a weird napping day the next day, but it all worked out fine.
Marc and I went out to dinner and rented The Time Traveler's Wife, which we both liked. It was so great to stay up late and sleep in without worry. I am really looking forward to Mexico.
But probably the best part about the kids spending the night at Grandma's, I FINALLY got around to cleaning my laundry room (which was in a pretty sad state). I have been trying to find time to clean the laundry room for months (that is not an exaggeration). It looks so wonderful.

A busy St Patrick's Day

We decided to take advantage of the fantastic weather and take the day off. First we headed to Liberty Park because the girls really haven't spend any quality outside time since fall.

They adored the swings as usual.
The slides were pretty fun

and Alice loved the tunnel. Claire was totally freaked out by it.
The ducks were also a big hit.
Next we had lunch at Moochie's, they have the best Philly Cheese Steak around.
After lunch we went to the zoo for a little bit. The girls are totally into animals right now and adore the zoo. We even had an educational moment when the giraffes decided to get frisky. We were laughing that other families were innocently taking the kids pictures with the giraffes at this moment. Hopefully they understood what was really going on before scrapbooking those moments.

It was a long day, but the girls had fun and we were glad to get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine.

Claire's first haircut

Before: The mullet. Her hair was a bit scraggly and only looked decent with a good amount of gel, pigtails, or clips (in other words: lots of work for me.

In general Claire likes to have her hair played with, so the cutting wasn't a big deal. I didn't do much, just evened up the "layers."

Apparently she wasn't pleased with the results.

But I was.

My little girly girl

Alice adored being pampered. She loves to have her nails clipped, her toenails painted, and her hair brushed. She always wants a bow in her hair. Too bad she doesn't have any hair! Claire is the opposite. When I clip her nails you would think I was trying to kill her. Claire also likes to have her hair brushed, but not to the extent that Alice loves it.

Claire hair is actually long enough to put clips and pigtails in, but again, she acts as if she is being tortured when I try. I'm actually thinking about cutting Claire's hair to try and minimize the mullet as to require less effort on my part. Alice also really like playing with my hair and Claire's.

It's just sad that the one who loves hair has so little.
This picture is to demonstrate how much she loves bows. If she sees one laying around she will insist that I put it in her hair, even if she already has one. She has major problems with jealousy and at times gets very upset if Claire touches her or whatever she is playing with. Alice also loves singing and sings all day. Often when she wakes up from her nap we don't hear crying, but singing coming from her room. Her favorite books are the books that have songs. She is just starting to string two words together and will sing the first two words of whatever song she want to sing (Head shoulders, Away manger, A B, Itsy spider, etc). For all this she isn't totally feminine. She adores dinosaurs and we NEED to read "How do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight" before bed (if we don't she growls until we do.) She also really likes balls and is an excellent throw and kicks really well. Alice is my silly girl and I love her.

Book Babies

For the last few months we have been going to story time at the local library. Sandy brought the camera today and took a few pictures during "music time."

My friend came with her baby and Claire was absolutely fascinated with him. She wanted to hug him and kiss him. Mandy was kind enough to let Claire hold him and Claire was in heaven.
