Sunflowers

The sunflowers are in full bloom in the canyon (a month late due to the endless winter). I couldn't resist and took the girls out for a little photo shoot.

Potty Training update

I have been a horrible mom and have put off potty training as long as possible. We have had potties for over a year and I will let them try to potty if they want but I haven't pushed the subject at all. It is hard living up the canyon where we spend hours each day in the car and I don't want to have to find a bathroom or pull over every 15 minutes and I certainly don't want accidents in the car.

Claire is so cute though because she is very persistant and want so much to be a big girl. I finally broke down and bought her underwear yesterday and she was exstatic! She insisted on putting them on as soon as we got home. I thought for sure that we would have at least one accident, but to my surprise Claire did exactally the opposite. She told be about every 30 minutes that she needed to go and actually produced something about every second or third try. I think she was paranoid about having an acccident because she sat down several times only to have a toot into her potty or nothing at all. It was very cute and it was clear to me that for her this day was a long time comming. When bed time came she would not let me put her night diaper on. We finally came to a compromise of putting her underpants on over the diaper and she was appeased.

The only interest Alice shows in potty training is to cheer Claire when she goes and will occationally sit but with minimal results. This is funny to me because she was the first to show interest or produce anything over a year ago.

Staycation

A few weeks ago my parent's vacation plans fell through and they decided to do fun things around here instead. We encountered a very similar situation last week and decided to take similar action. Marc found a screaming deal on a hotel in Park City which we used a Living Social deal on to knock the price down another $50. I was on call the whole weekend so we also thought it would be nice to be close in case I got called in. Luckily I only got 2 calls, one of Friday night to Heber and on Sunday afternoon to Park City. It worked out perfectly.

We went on a hike

Played some mini golf

Claire and I actually made a really good team

Went to the Summit County Fair in Coalville

The girls LOVED the bouncy houses

One hit of the day was watching this girl put
her winning goose in a box and carry him out
of the poultry tent, the goose was not happy

And went to the Summit County Fair Rodeo

We had an awesome staycation! Other highlights that don't include pictures were swimming in the hotel pool, riding the carousel, and sleeping in sleeping bags on the pullout bed. (The girls felt very grown up)

Gone Fishin'

My girls love the PBS kids show Caillou. In this show, there are several episodes where Caillou goes fishing with his grandpa. Since they have seen this, the girls have been asking to go fishing with Grandpa. Grandpa was finally in town this week and agreed to take the girls fishing. We went to Vivian Park in Provo Canyon where there is a little stocked pond that my mom has taken lots of kids through the years to. It was an amazing day to be outside. My grandparents and Janell decided to come.

This was how most of the afternoon was spent

the girls applying sunscreen to my face

There was a minute of excitement when we hooked one

But the line broke and it got away

Even though we left empty handed, we had a great day

Primary Party

Even though our girls are in nursery, we went to the ward Primary Party since it fell on my day off and I am a primary teacher.

Claire was so proud that she figured out how
to use the water cooler, she wanted to help
the other kids

Pioneer Day

These are a bit late, but here are our pictures from Pioneer Day. We celebrated by going to the Bountiful Handcart Days with Marc's family.

Our nephew in the parade

Watching the parade

After the parade we headed to the park for the fair

The favorite activity was the blow-up obstacle course

The day wouldn't be complete without some fireworks
