5 1/2

This last week we celebrated the girl's Half Birthday! What this really entails is telling them it is their half birthday, giving them a few presents (things I have been wanting to give them for the past 2 months but hold off) and doing a couple of fun things. It is easy, stress free, and they LOVE it! We started off the day at the gymnastics free play Friday. The place they take gymnastics opens up the area for kids to free play, for free, so it is busy and we usually see a lot of friends there. The girls had a great time telling everyone that it was their half birthday. Next we went to lunch at Big Bad Breakfast, one of our favorite Oxford restaurants. The girls informed the hostess it was their half birthday and they we so cute a brought the girls birthday pancakes. I thought it would have been funny to cut them in half, but who is going to turn down free food?

After lunch we headed over to Pirate Adventure, a bounce house place just our of Oxford that they always have fun at.

We ended the day with cupcakes that the girls helped me make. Claire wanted vanilla frosting and Alice wanted peanut butter. These kids are so different it kills me :). We had a lot of fun and the girls felt very special.

Spring Break

Claire pulling Alice in the wagon
Since Marc is so busy with school and church responsibilities we don't get to see him as much as we like to. To remedy this we decided to get away for a few days during spring break. We didn't go far, just up to Memphis since I already had an appointment scheduled with my midwife and we had to drive up anyway. After my appointment on Thursday we went and got some BBQ at the BBQ Shop, which was pretty good. (A side note here: I HATE BBQ sauce so we have to find somewhere that has good dry ribs if we hit this type of joint. The BBQ Shop was pretty good in that regard.) After lunch we went to the zoo, which is convinently down the street from my midwife.

The girls have always love the zoo. The biggest problem we run into with the Memphis Zoo is the size.
I try to get my kids to walk everywhere but it is so big they just can't hack it. So this time we brought the wagon and I am so glad we did. The girls could ride when they needed to, but the novelty of the wagon was so great that they wanted to pull each other in it most of the day. Unfortunatly Marc was finishing up a project and spent most of the day at the picnic area with his computer, but the weather was terrific and we all had a great time.

Today we decided to try the Children't Museum of Memphis. I have heard excellent things about it so we gave it a go. It was fabulous! There are so

many exhibits and fun things to do. They girls had a ball and only we willing to leave because they were starving and I didn't bring lunch. (No outside food or drink allowed of course). But we had such a good time that we got a membership. We are really looking forward to the summer when the splash pad is open. The girls begged and pleaded to go back so we relented and ended up going for a few hours this morning before we left Memphis.

To end our weekend we swung back into Oxford just in time to catch the free double decker bus tour. It was interesting and informative and it gave me a few ideas of where to take people when they visited. We ran into some friends, actually one of the girls favorite friends and her mom on the tour. We went with them and got frozen yogurt afterwords. All of us are totally exhausted from our fun weekend and can hopefully get some rest tomorrow before Marc gets back to the grind.

It's a boy!

This pregnancy has been totally weird and so different than with the girls. I haven't been sure if that is because I am only pregnant with one, I am 6 years older, or if it was a boy. I had my sneaking suspicions it was a boy though. Today we went for our 20 week ultrasound. As far as his health looks everything looks great. We were able to get great pictures of his feet so we know they are not clubbed like Alice's. He was very cooperative and the tech was able to get great pictures pretty quickly. After being in the ultrasound for a little while the girls were getting restless and wanted to go play with the wooden kids MRI machine in the waiting area so Marc took them out to do that. Not one minute after they left the tech and I were commenting on how he wasn't shy at all about letting his little penis hang out there for everyone to see. I told her that at least he wasn't grabbing it. That very second he reached down and grabbed on. I guess when there aren't any toys in there he finds what he can to play with. We are very excited and the Inman name can live on for one more generation :).
